Obituary of Kim Stears

With profound sadness and regret, the family of Kim Harold Stears announces his sudden passing on March 26, at the age of 56. The son of Dorothy (McCavour) Stears and the late George Stears, Kim is survived by his loving partner and best friend Diane Bustin, and their son Jonathan Bustin (Jessica Jordan) and daughter Kristina Demmy (Matt Sherwood). Kim was anxiously awaiting the arrival of Jonathan and Jessica’s first child, who will miss not knowing this wonderful man. He was a loving and doting “Papa” to Lily and Ella Sherwood, who brought so much joy to his life. Kim is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Jean Stears,; brother Rod Stears and his wife Beverly; sister Shelly Maclean, and friend Mike Gillis; his nephews Ryan MacLean, Andrew MacLean, Connor Stears, and niece Nikola Stears; and several cousins. He was pre-deceased by father George Thomas Stears and infant brother Peter Lodge Stears. Born and raised in Saint John, Kim graduated from Millidgeville North High School. He was an avid hunter and loved his job driving school bus, where he was a source of great entertainment to the children who will surely miss him. He loved spending time with his family on Deer Island, was skilled in the kitchen and had a quick, dry wit that could make anyone laugh. To honour Kim’s great love for children and animals, especially his dog Mack, donations to the IWK, Children’s Wish Foundation, or the Saint John Animal Rescue league are appreciated. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday March 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Castle Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place. All are welcome to a reception following the service at Fallsview Family Reception Centre. The family would like to thank the paramedics and staff at the Charlotte County Hospital for their kindness.
